Sweet Jesus, I come before You, acknowledging the dry and empty places within me.
We confess that we often seek to quench our thirst with desires that lead us away from Your life-giving presence.
I thank You, Jesus, for Your invitation to return to Your well, to wait and to receive all that You long to give me.
You see my parched soul, and You are prepared to fill me, heal me, and quench my deepest thirst.
Open my heart, Lord, to receive Your living water.
Help me to quiet my strivings and to simply wait in Your presence, noticing Your gaze upon me.
May I surrender my disowned desires and turn afresh to You, trusting that as I open myself, You will surely come and satisfy me.
Fill me now, I pray, with Your Spirit, that I might be renewed, refreshed, and empowered to live a life that honors and glorifies You.
Amen.
This water color sketch was my vision of Jesus filling the burnt out empty place inside.
